Cosmic Quest: Interstellar Romance

Cosmic Quest (Part III): Interstellar Romance

the explosion leaves us drained
     a burst of creative energy
surges through the atmosphere
     a cosmic solar flare
   set everything ablaze
reducing us
to stardust.

oh, I need to land
on something more stable than your nebular energy
I need to find my way this time
        out of this black hole
        and not farther in it
push myself out of your orbit
  thrusting away from your gravity
into a void of my own.

phases of the moon
      reveal your faces to me
shadows, clouded - leave me wondering
you control the tides of my emotions
  with little more thought
than the oceans do the sea

I don't want to drown anymore or waste resources on
    this interstellar battle
I want to reach out for a hand
one that will hold on tight
keeps me anchored and will not let go.

Cosmic Quest: Kinetic Energy

Cosmic Quest (Part II): Kinetic Energy

electromagnetic
     pulsating energy
live wires, exposed, worn thin over time
the elements acting as the ultimate
     conduit
we are
     kinetic energy
two polar opposites so highly charged
     highly drawn to each other
and within our own force field
     when we align
          nothing can pull us apart.

But time is wearing us down
and the elements are exposing more than we bargained for
Our faults becoming so much more deeply defined
and what had previously drawn us together
          is slowly forcing us apart.

The longer I go
     away from your influence
the more I begin to wobble
like some satellite, slowly spinning out of orbit
Your electromagnetic pull is weakening
     the divide is widening
and I, once again, am coming back into my own
A powerful entity
     energy to be reckoned with
free to pull in any celestial wonders
whose trajectory is within my sphere of reach, within my gravity.

Outside of your realm, I wonder
     what drew me in?
Or if it was just a matter of time, circumstance and flight path?

There is no objectivity to this hodgepodge design
     when you're in too deep
it's impossible to see the galaxy for the stars
I wonder if I'm assigning meaning
     where there really is none
If I've spent too much time here in this system
If - in my quest to get involved
I lost myself in the solar flares that followed.

We are
     kinetic energy
the likes of which I've never seen nor experienced
The universe wobbled
and like two magnets rocked upon their sides
our force - once pulling, once pushing
     now rests
          in neutral.

Cosmic Quest: Awaiting Arrival

Cosmic Quest (Part I): Awaiting Arrival

This story begins the time before…

Where were you?
     this time is not linear
these planets have not aligned
and though the eclipse blocks out the sun
     and leaves us in darkness
it has not burned you out of my mind.

Are you a ghost riding on a meteor's wing
trailing behind a comet's tail ignited in fury?
Are you taking refuge on a Jovian moon
     healing your wounds
from your last intergalactic battle with love?
Hurry -
stranger, ghost, time traveler from afar
Time moves in a linear fashion here
and I cannot stall the hour hand much longer.

Where are you?
Do you live in the past of sputniks and planets 9?
Did I miss your passing by being born too late?
I wait...
for shooting stars to mark your arrival.
