(13/30 – 30 Poems in 30 Days – April National Poetry Month)

[Prompt: An Ode to Facebook]

We’ve created our own little matrix
Wirelessly
Connected
Tentacles outstretched to the very ends of the earth
People we’ve met, shared experiences with
Some we haven’t and yet
We’re still connected

I loathe the impersonal nature of it all
But have no one to blame but myself
For not fostering those deeper connections
In person, real-time meetings of flesh and minds
I adore the ease in which I can gain a glimpse into your life
And you into mine

Who knew the interwebs would take us here?
That beyond the walls and doors
Of school days past, old jobs, old worlds
That more than thoughts and memory keeps us intertwined
We are wireless
and still connected.
