[Prompt: Villanelle]
“They didn’t want it good, they wanted it Wednesday” – Robert Heinlein
What else could I say?
His argument couldn’t last
They wanted it Wednesday
It was the middle of the day
And on a Monday no less
What else could I say?
I suppose I’d have to obey
Put forth the effort quick and true
They wanted it Wednesday
If I wanted to receive my pay
For work rendered and received
What else could I say?
I’d have to say okay
They wanted it done
They wanted it Wednesday
They wanted me on my way
And so I delivered as promised
What else could I say?
They wanted it Wednesday.
