I had nothing to say
so I said… nothing
I turned the other way
just in case
my soul was watching
Reflection off of the blank screen
a silhouetted profile
I had something to say
but the words wouldn’t flow
I had something to say!
But there’s nothing to show
My soul, dry
My muse, absent
Not even a postcard
of hope
to get me through
So I make do with nothing
And turn nothing into something
anything
I stare back at the screen
as it stares at me
and summon forth
the tiniest drops I have left
And spin them
Coddle them
Beg and bend and plead
And write
Something
We all start
from nothing
