lean towards bitter
strong, bold
placid amber liquid
in a cylinder of glass
sits upon warm honeyed oak
almost a perfect color match
tequila varnish
it is neither tequila
nor varnish
but it smells like one
and tastes like the other
to his refined senses
it is a glorified scotch
to my eye
my tongue
my olfactory sense
this bottle has been branded
and outlawed
from ever passing over my taste buds again
