I could’ve sworn that
my childhood days spent
playing ivory keys
taught me a thing or
two about life and
the meaning of it
and discipline too

I could’ve sworn that
I still knew what all
of the letters mean
like my favorite
of them all mp

I could’ve sworn that
I was taught mp
meant medium soft
or
mezzo-pianissimo
but Google tells me
something otherwise
medium piano?

Did it change on me
or my memory
is it faulty now?
I know I can still
find middle C and
play a few songs by
heart because some things
never quite leave us
