(22/30 – 30 Poems in 30 Days – April National Poetry Month)
[Prompt: Write a poem that is one sentence long, but the longest sentence you can write. ]
My head hurts and I’m tired with a song stuck in my head
“Early Morning Rain” falls down on me from an azure sky
I think to myself, but that’s my problem I think too much
if only there was a way to shut off these thoughts that I think
the memories that come floating back like phantoms with no names
only I remember everything loud and clear
and I let it go on like a river that can’t be stopped and
if I listen hard enough I can hear its gurgling sound
flowing in its ever changing course
leading into a waterfall just like the things that I think sometimes
it starts off slow
just little things
until it erupts into a large waterfall of images all blurred together too hard to separate
and yet I’m in there somewhere – lost among the tiny droplets of water and then again I’m the waterfall that can’t be stopped and the river that keeps on going
